I recently acquired a BlackBerry 8830 with service through Sprint. I finally undid whatever Sprint did to dork up the data connections. Spent a while chasing wild geese on this one.

If yours is dorked up, back up the unit, wipe it and then restore as little as possible - a full restore WILL restore the PROBLEM. I restored the phone settings, profiles, contacts etc. and it is fine. I plan on developing some Java applications for it. YES - the GPS works with Google Maps Mobile. I would like to find something that can track my phone on the web - nothing works quite right yet.

Highly Recommended:

• Google Maps Mobile
• Mail by Google Application for BlackBerry
• JiveTalk (not free but worth every penny)
• Opera Mini - just don't use the beta to do any online banking - the certificate trust appears to be broken. They have a disclaimer in the EULA. The stable version appears to have the trust working ok.
• MidpSSH - of course.
